About the author

Linn B Halton lives in the small village of Lydbrook, Gloucestershire in the UK, but was born in Bristol. She resides there with her husband and cat with 'catitude'- Mr Tiggs.

Linn began writing in March 2009 and her debut novel was published in February 2011. In a recent interview Linn was asked about genres:

"From a very young age I knew romantic fiction was always going to be my genre. I am, and will always be, madly in love with love! Whether that's love of life, a partner, or the things I'm passionate about.

My stories are about love, life and real relationships - but romance is always the one thing that holds each story together. Often there's a light, psychic touch and I never dreamed I would write drawing upon my personal psychic experiences. But as my interest and understanding has grown in the subject, it is now such a part of my life it finds its way into my fictional tales. However, what is heartening is that most of my experiences have been uplifting and it's wonderful to know loved ones are around me always. I hope it will make readers stop and wonder 'What if?'

The result is that I get a lot of mail from readers who have had similar experiences and some are sharing theirs for the first time with me. I always feel that's something rather special and for which I'm very grateful."

Love, life and beyond... but it's ALWAYS about the romance!

Linn is published by HarperImpulse and Sapphire Star Publishing.
Linn is the editor of Loveahappyending Lifestyle emagazine.

My Review

Linn’s style is so smooth and easy to read that in a way, it’s a bit like dipping into your favourite box of chocolates. You promise yourself just one and before you know it, you’ve eaten the whole box. Similarly, I found myself saying ‘just one more chapter’ and couldn’t resist reading the next and the next until I’d finished. As an open-minded sceptic, I find the subject of Angels both fascinating and mystifying. In this book, a lot of things start to make sense whilst at the same time making a great story. I loved the characters, felt Ceri’s pain and was shocked at the ending of the third novella. The transition between that and the bonus material jarred a little, simply because it was so unexpected and as a reader I felt I needed more time to come to terms with what had happened. Without giving away any spoilers though I am so glad the bonus material was there!!

Not only is this a well-written story with great characters and plot, but for anyone who doesn’t normally read this kind of novel, I can thoroughly recommend it. As someone who has never experienced a psychic episode, this is the next best thing to understanding what happens in the astral plane.

About the Author

Born in Ayrshire and educated at Ayr Academy, Janice Cairns has had an assortment of jobs. She's worked in child-care, law, insurance, media and creative writing. Janice lives in Edinburgh now; the city has been home to her for the last thirty years. It is here that her dream of becoming a writer is coming true. This last year, she has polished her debut novel, 'Forgiving Nancy'. She is absorbed in the marketing for this novel currently and does feel her days in advertising have helped with the marketing aspects of her being a writer today. In the last year or so she has also spent time developing her social media sites such as Facebook, twitter and her blog. She loves to keep these pages thriving and also is loving taking the photographs she does for her sites. Her main passion being writing, though, it is no surprise to her to find she has a second novel brewing and evolving within her. Already some plans are gurgling in the pipeline for what might follow ' Forgiving Nancy'.

My Review

I really enjoyed this debut novel from Janice Cairns. Her love of her home city is evident is the lavish descriptions of Edinburgh – bringing alive the shops and cafes of the 1980s. It is multilayered as we follow a young impoverished Nancy who seems to fall on her feet when she meets Max. Things are not always what they seem, however, as there are several subplots which are all brought together in the end with at least three people seeking forgiveness. This is not your usual love story and I sense there is a lot of the author in this one. The only unresolved question I have, unless I missed it, was the relevance of the Polish girl and the ring – did she ever return it?  This is just a minor point though as it is a great first novel.

Perfect Girl - Michele Gorman

Cinderella meets Falling Down in this wickedly funny tale about having it all

Carol is perfect… at least that’s what everyone thinks. In reality she’s sinking fast – her family treats her like their personal assistant and her boyfriend is so busy with work that he’s got her single-handedly running their relationship. Not that her job is any easier. As the only woman on the bank’s trading floor she spends twelve-hour days trying not to get sworn at or felt up by colleagues who put the "W" in banker.

How long can she go on pleasing everyone else before she snaps and loses it all?

With humor and empathy, Perfect Girl lays bare the balancing act that working women face in a man's world

And here's the book trailer (a 2 minute modern fairy tale with a twist): http://youtu.be/iyoGazY-5so  PERFECT GIRL is available now on Amazon.

My Review

Easy to read, chick lit novel about Carol who wants nothing more than to be everything to everybody. As a result her relationship with Ben suffers, her sister’s wedding is putting strain on their relationship and her mother’s approval is all she craves. It’s only when the company she works for is investigated for insider trading, and the culprit is the programme she created, that she realizes her life is nowhere near perfect.
Great characters, well written and perfect if you’re looking for a chick-lit pick me up.
