Another year has passed and it’s Christmas again. This year best friends Chloe, Jules and Lucy are all loved up but living worlds apart.

Chloe is madly in love with her celebrity beau, Archer, but after a whirlwind year in Hollywood’s limelight, she’s desperate to get away and spend some quality time together.

Jules loves her Melbourne life – and gorgeous winemaker Matt – but a crowded flat share has her longing for a place of her own.

Meantime, Lucy is stuck in a long distance relationship, jetting back and forth between Colorado and London to see Will.

When Archer’s plan to whisk Chloe to Paris goes awry, he surprises her by bringing her friends together for a Christmas to remember…

My Review

It was lovely to catch up with best friends, Chloe, Jules and Lucy and their boyfriends as they celebrate Christmas together in Hawaii. This is a lovely story of friendship, relationships and family. Somehow, the author manages to create a really festive atmosphere, despite the tropical location. I did laugh at roaring log fires with the air con on full blast though. The introduction of Audrey is inspired as is her step mum - both memorable characters. I recommend reading the first Christmas book to get to know the characters of the three friends first.

Just One Day - Autumn

 Just One Day – Autumn

Pregnant Louisa is just getting back on track when life throws her another curveball. Now, it’s not a case of how she’ll get through her to-do lists but how she’ll manage being a mum again.

No one seems to understand. How will she run her company, be partner in a new venture, look after her three kids and handle a newborn? And why does everyone think this will be easy? Except her.

All Louisa wants is to be a good mum, a good wife and have a bit of time left for herself, but sometimes that’s too big an ask. Can she find the support she needs, or will she forever be pulled in too many directions, always at the mercy of her to-do lists?

My review

This has been a lovely series and book 4 is a fitting finale. Louisa is utterly relatable with her endless to do lists and no free time. With twins on he way she worries about how she will cope as a mum of five - not something she ever anticipated. While thing are going better with her husband, there are issues among her group of friends and a devastating blow from her sister. Really enjoyable and can thoroughly recommend.

My Review

Well known for his delightful romances set in Italy, TA Williams has turned his hand to cosy crime. This change of genre is just as delightful as retired DCI Dan Armstrong is caught up in a murder mystery on a writing retreat in the Tuscan hills. With each guest hiding a secret, the readxer is swept along in the chase to unearth the culprit. There is still the same beautiful descriptions of italy and gorgeous food but with an added soupcon of mystery and suspense. TA Williams is on to a winner. I thoroughly enjoyed this feast and am looking forward to the next.

The Empire

 The Empire

Welcome to The Empire theatre

1922. When Jack Treadwell arrives at The Empire, in the middle of a rehearsal, he is instantly mesmerised. But amid the glitz and glamour, he soon learns that the true magic of the theatre lies in its cast of characters - both on stage and behind the scenes.

There's stunning starlet Stella Stanmore and Hollywood heartthrob Lancelot Drake; and Ruby Rowntree, who keeps the music playing, while Lady Lillian Lassiter, theatre owner and former showgirl, is determined to take on a bigger role. And then there's cool, competent Grace Hawkins, without whom the show would never go on . . . could she be the leading lady Jack is looking for?

When long-held rivalries threaten The Empire's future, tensions rise along with the curtain. There is treachery at the heart of the company and a shocking secret waiting in the wings. Can Jack discover the truth before it's too late, and the theatre he loves goes dark?

Musical theatre legend Michael Ball brings his trademark warmth, wit and glamour to this, his debut novel.

Enjoy the show!

My Review

Absolutely delighted to be on the blog tour for Michael Ball's debut novel. He brings all his theatrical experience to the book as we are introduced to 'The Empire', a wonderful theatre whose future is in jeopardy.

The initial list of characters is slightly daunting to the reader but once we are introduced to Jack, things gradually slot into place. As a huge theatre fan, I enjoyed watching the story unfold - the writing brings the theatre to life and the reader can almost smell the greasepaint and hear the audience cheer.

I especially warmed to Grace and lady Lilian and of course there has to be a baddie too, but the real magic lies in the theatre itself. The reader is privileged to be a part of all her ups and downs.

An amazing debut.

My Review

I thought this was a great idea for a story - when Dolly buys a lost suitcase, it changes not only her life but that of her friends too. At the core of the book are relationships and human nature. Watching Dolly's transformation as she emerges from the grief of losing her sister is heartwarming - as is her neighbour's realisation of what is important and being true to oneself. There is one coincidence from Dolly's past that seemed a little contrived but that aside, this is a truly engaging read that left me feeling warm inside.

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing escapist romance is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

My review

'A chance in a million' is a fabulous read. T.A.Williams brilliantly brings to life the character of Venice and the Italian countryside which really immerses the reader in the story. The second reason why I loved this book is that the two main characters, Jane and David are both damaged after their experiences in the army. The way in which their relationship develops alongside the story is very well executed. The author's style is so readable that you won't want to put this book down.

Take a chance on Greece

Forgetting your troubles surrounded by golden sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and chiselled abs… what could possibly go wrong?

For
Orla, moving in with her dad at twenty-nine after a health scare wasn’t exactly her plan. Neither was finding out he’s been keeping a huge family secret…

Ready to put the entire Mediterranean Sea between herself and her dysfunctional family, she packs her bags and checks in to a charming B&B on a sun-drenched Greek island. But the vines climbing the beautiful yellow front and the glittering blue sea aren’t the only gorgeous things in view. Her neighbour, sexy writer
Georgios, is in search of inspiration, and Orla’s caught his eye… if only he would lighten up!

It’s a big fat Greek clash of wills as Orla encourages Georgios to put down his pen and start having fun. Who wouldn’t love a cruise on a pirate ship, complete with rum and fake swords? Her heart melts as she catches a glimmer of a smile… but over Greek wine and freshly made mezze by candlelight, he gets far too serious, urging Orla to talk about her past. However, as soon as Orla shares her secrets, Georgios abruptly ends the evening…

The next day, confused and angry, Orla heads to the harbour to leave the island. But something makes her hesitate.
Should she get on the boat and keep running from her problems, or break free from her past and let her glorious Greek summer last forever?

A completely feel-good read about living life to the full! Perfect for fans of Carole Matthews, Jenny Colgan and Sophie Kinsella.

My Review

Sue Roberts's light-hearted, easy-going style is just the thing if you want to dip into a book by the pool or recapture that Greek ambience once the holiday memories have faded.

I really enjoyed reclusive Georgios and the revelation at the end was unexpected. There were lots of 'will they, won't they ' moments without it being too contrived. Orla's father also has a lot to answer for with the secret he's kept for so long. All in all an enjoyable summer read.

Can she turn a clunky chicken dance into a classy Charleston and a boogie-woogie into a beautiful ballet? Or will she be boot scootin’ it back to London and life as a floundering florist?

My Review

I have enjoyed every book in this series - for a Greek loving foodie it's been paradise on a page. However, all good things do evuntually end and the series comes to afiting finale - I won't ay more because of spoilers.

There is once again a varied group of guests as the Hummingbird Hotel is beset by problems as they host the dance and deserts retreat. However, with her big Greek weddding just a few weeks away, problems closer to home mean Abbie might not end up living the dream after all.

One of my favourite Greek series.

My Review

This is the third book in the series and it was lovely to catch up with Louisa and her journey. Her story puts into perspective the lives of many of us, juggling work and family and trying for that all important work-life balance. As Louisa’s 'to do' list gets longer, her life becomes even more complicated with an unexpected discovery. Will her husband Ronnie feel the same though and can they put the past behind them? I'm really looking forward to the final instalment.

About the Book:

Paris 1944. To save her people, she served the enemy.

In enemy-occupied Paris, as the locals go to bed starving and defeated by the war, music and laughter spills through the door of a little restaurant, crowded with German soldiers. The owner
Marianne moves on weary feet between its packed tables, carrying plates of steaming, wholesome food for the enemy officers. Her smile is bright and sparkling, her welcome cordial. Nobody would guess the hatred she hides in her heart.

That night, the restaurant closes its doors for the final time. In the morning, the windows are scratched with the words ‘traitor and murderer’. And Marianne has disappeared without a trace…

Years later, Marianne’s granddaughter
Sabine stands under the faded green awning, a heavy brass key in her hand, staring at the restaurant left to her by the grandmother she never met. Sabine has so many questions about herself. Perhaps here she can find answers, but she knows she isn’t welcome. Marianne was hated by the locals and when Sabine discovers they blamed her for the terrible tragedy that haunts the pretty restaurant, she is ready to abandon her dark legacy.

But when she finds a passport in a hidden compartment in the water-stained walls, with a picture of a woman who looks like her grandmother but has a different name, she knows there must be more to Marianne’s story. As she digs into the past, she starts to wonder: was her grandmother a heroine, not a traitor? What happened to her after the tragic night when she fled from her restaurant? And will the answer change her own life forever?

A haunting and compelling story of love, strength, and sacrifice in Nazi-occupied Paris as one brave young woman risks everything to save the lives of those around her. Fans of The NightingaleThe Paris Library and The Alice Network will lose their hearts to The Last Restaurant in Paris.

My Review

An absolutely gripping dual timeline set in present day Paris and in 1944. I loved watching Sabine try to unravel her grandmother's past. Of course, as she discovers Marianne's secrets, so does the reader. The story of the price one woman will pay for revenge is heartbreaking but is Marianne a heroine or a traitor? The ending will have you gasping and make sure you have plenty of hankies.
