Nine Lives

Review of Nine Lives by Terry Tyler

About the author

Terry lives in the north of England with her husband. She has six novels on Amazon, all of which she describes as the all-encompassing "contemporary fiction" because, despite the eFestival of Words win, she can't work out what genre she writes in. If you like reading about love triangles, secret affairs, obsessions, addiction and family relationships, with a little bit of internet dating, social networking and reality TV thrown in, all with delightfully unguessable plot twists, then she's probably the writer for you!
She has a blog on which she writes about anything she feels like, and also writes for the UK Arts Directory on a weekly basis, about self-publishing. Both blogs are widely read.

My Review

This is a short collection of nine stories so is ideal for dipping in to. They often have a twist in the tale but some don’t which adds to the interest. They are all entertaining and on different themes. ‘Angel’ for example deals with the perfect wife being tempted by another. ‘Shut up and dance’ where Paul says he’ll love Laura whatever her size has an ending which I loved even though it was predictable. ‘Mama kin’ is about different ways of bringing up children and is far less predictable. In all the stories, Terry Tyler, makes you believe in the characters. Some are funny, one or two are sad but all of them have a message which will stay with you long after you have finished the story.

Best for.....

Dipping into with a cup of coffee and a biscuit

My rating

4/5 Great mini-reads
