Guest Post - Kimberly Quinton

Today I'm delighted to welcome Kimberley Quinton, author of  'Cupid's Promise' to the blog.

Whether she’s writing contemporary or paranormal romance, Kimberly Quinton is a romantic at heart who strives to tell stories about the power of true love.

Since a teen, she’s loved romances and believes we can all live our happily-ever-after. Always a people watcher, it wasn’t until Kimberly shucked her Accounting major for Anthropology that her interest in people and cultures was nurtured. Kimberly has combined her natural curiosity (nosiness) with her love of romance for the sake of bringing the movies in her head to life on the page.

A wife and mother of two, Kimberly spends her days chasing chores, wrangling active kids, and writing. She also enjoys traveling, cooking, great wine and sharing a laugh with friends and family.

About the book

Shot through the heart...

Cupid’s Promise
Cupid's Secret promises to set Laurel Cove on its ear with a sexy new boutique that answers what a woman desires. When the owner ends up in the hospital it's up to Lena Ridgeway to make sure this heart-stopping opening goes off without a hitch, but she finds her every idea challenged by a no-nonsense businessman.
Capitalizing on a feeling...
Marcus Blackwell is a bottom-line kind of guy and he knows that sex and hearts sell. When he arrives to find his latest venture in chaos, his partner injured, and a model- turned-manager in charge, he rolls up his sleeves and dives in. If only he could keep his mind-and hands - off the sultry model with her whimsical faith in a fake holiday.
Can't fight this fortune...
Lena can't help teasing the straight-laced, business-only boss who keeps sneaking into her dreams. One passionate kiss has her believing he may be the one she's waited for all her life, but she'll need every arrow in Cupid's arsenal to prove she is his true Valentine....

Today Kimberly is talking about what a typical day entails for a writer.
A day in the life of a newly published author…or writer. By Kimberly Quinton

First, I think my life is similar to most anyone’s life. I have kids that have to go to school, even when they don’t want to. I have a husband who goes to work before we even get up. I have a dog that requires food, morning belly-rubs and some kind of play. I worry about bills, and healthy dinners and parenting mistakes and my health (I’ll be crossing a Birthday milestone this year..Ugh) and all the other million things that make up a person’s day-to-day life. Pretty normal, I’d say.

But I have this thing. This wonderful thing, that I get to do and I love it. I’ve always made up stories and lived in the fantasy worlds I created in my head. I was an introverted kid with major self-esteem issues so my fantasies were preferable over the reality around me. As I grew older, I grew out of some of it, but still loved to curl up and “dream”. Fast forward a number of years and I’m working in a high-stress job and I’m back to needing my dreams and inner world to help me cope. But this time I’m older, more secure and decide- I’m going to write down this one story that I keep thinking about because I want to know what happens. And my journey to becoming a writer began.

Now, it’s been over ten years and many starts and stops since that day but I finally can say I’m a published author. A typical day in my life looks something like this:

Wake up ten minutes before kids, drag them out of bed, feed them, get them to school on time.  Now that they are both in school, I get to write full-time while they are away. Living the dream, baby!

Get home, do a few chores if I don’t have to run any errands.

Write, write, write, get stuck in my story, stare at my computer or call a friend to brainstorm or just chat because I have some really awesome friends that make me laugh, read for critiques, get distracted by social media, promo, playing on Facebook and twitter or do whatever I can to avoid washing the dishes or doing more laundry; sometimes I even work on my budget or pay bills. (And that’s not even close to the things I can think of to do to keep from editing). Play with the dog, maybe eat some lunch if cake isn’t available and, some days, take a nap because sleep helps me deal with deadline panic (insert sarcasm font here).

Pick up kids at school and then the countdown starts for homework, dinner, karate for boys, zumba or yoga for me (not daily! I wish…), put them to bed, finally talk to husband, have a glass or two of wine and watch a show if anything is recorded or read for a bit.

Got to bed, hopefully sleep, wake up and repeat.

Terribly exciting, I know! But it’s the dream I’ve wanted for so long and I try to appreciate every minute of it, panic included!

You can usually find her on Facebook or Twitter. Stop by for a chat.
